Kara Boltz is an exemplary English teacher. She approaches her profession with an eye for equity and a sincere passion for improving the lives of her students. That includes strengthening their writing skills and making sure they know that someone cares about them. She provides students both a window and a door so that they may read, discuss and analyze characters and topics that they may relate to but also those that open their eyes to unfamiliar territory. Her Advanced Placement English language and collaborative English 9 students learn by her example, and she elicits in them the same tireless effort.
Dedication, compassion and leadership make Gina Hackett a game changer. Reading and writing are her jam! She is dedicated to developing a love for reading in all students, from struggling readers to the top of the class. She finds literature that allows students a mirror to see themselves and a window to see others. She is cultivating young people who are empowered to engage in challenging discourse. She created a guide for professional learning communities across the district. Gina is described as our rock and our rock star! She has cultivated a team of teachers who are as passionate about serving students. She is a “Birdie for Life,” and we are so lucky to have her in our Skyhawk family!
