Dr. Bryan Hicks

Principal

Dr. Hicks is excited to be joining the Carver Middle School family!  Dr. Hicks started his education career as a social studies teacher at Thomas Dale High School. While at Thomas Dale, he coached football, basketball, soccer, track, and served as the assistant director of student activities. Prior to joining Carver, Dr. Hicks served as an administrator at Thomas Dale, Matoaca HS, Midlothian MS, and Elizabeth Davis MS.

Dr. Hicks is a Chesterfield County Public Schools graduate (Manchester HS). He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Hampden-Sydney College, his Master of Science in Sports Management/Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University and his Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from VCU.

Dr. Hicks and his wife, Heidi, have two children and two grandchildren. Dr. Hicks enjoys attending live sporting events, especially at the University of Virginia. When he isn’t at games in Charlottesville, he volunteers as the clock operator for Thomas Dale football and basketball.  Dr. Hicks believes that every student brings value to the school, and it is essential that all students be given the opportunity to reach and exceed their goals.

Mary Alyse Klement

Associate Principal

Ms. Klement is excited to join the Carver family. She has 10 years of educational experience. Prior to her current role as Assistant Principal, she served as Dean of Students at Falling Creek Middle School and taught at Robious Middle School. She is a native of Richmond, Virginia, and a product of Chesterfield County Public Schools. Ms. Klement graduated with a M.A.T and B.A.from James Madison University as well as the University of Virginia with a Masters of Education in Administration and Supervision. 

She is a proud aunt to her nephews & nieces, and loves to travel in her free time.

Moira Sallade

Assistant Principal

Mrs. Sallade is thrilled to be serving as Assistant Principal for Carver Middle School. She is originally from Kentucky and moved to New Jersey where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Historically Studies from Stockton University. She later received her teacher certification from Virginia Commonwealth University, and her Masters in Administration for Grand Canyon University in Educational Leadership. After College she moved down to Richmond and began her teaching career with Chesterfield County as a Special Education Teacher for 5 years at Salem Middle School. She then spent two years working as the Coordinator of Assessment and Remediation, before becoming the Dean of Students, and transitioned to Assistant Principal at Carver Middle School. Mrs. Sallade enjoys hanging with her family, traveling, home improvement projects, reading, and exploring the outdoors. She draws inspiration from a quote from Harry Potter, “Hard work is important, but there is something that matters even more; believing in yourself.”

Brianna Hodges

Dean of Students

Brianna Hodges is elated to be joining the administrative team at Carver Middle School as the Dean of students. She looks forward to working to develop a strong administrative team with her Carver family. Ms. Hodges is a former cum laude graduate of Canisius College, a Jesuit school in Buffalo, New York. At Canisius College she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Adolescent Mathematics Education Grades K-12. She has been certified in New York and is certified in Virginia in Mathematics Education for grades K-12. Furthermore, she has graduated summa cum laude at Virginia State University with a Masters of Education, in the Educational Administration & Supervision program.

Throughout Ms. Hodges’ career she has worked for Richmond Public Schools, Hopewell Public Schools and Chesterfield County Public Schools. Most recently at Clover Hill High School she has served as a mathematics teacher teaching geometry.

Lastly, her hobbies are art appreciation and being creative, travel, and long walks with her Yorkshire terrier Alexandria (Drea). She also enjoys dancing and singing karaoke. Ms. Hodges believes that every student has the potential to succeed given the chance to showcase their abilities in their own way.
