All about apples

Apples are at the core of Virginia’s annual Crunch Heard ՚Round the Commonwealth, which is part of National Farm to School Month. Using apples from Crown Orchard, students in Felisha Johnson’s class at Carver College and Career Academy tested, tweaked and perfected several recipes. Their apple crumble will soon be added to menus in Chesterfield middle schools and high schools. Food and Nutrition Services is working to increase the use of local produce and serve more food made from scratch.
