A delicious partnership for Monacan High

Two female students working on a Charcuterie Board

Monacan High’s Charcuterie Club welcomed representatives from Dietz & Watson on Jan. 31. After seeing the club featured on WTVR-CBS6, the national meat and cheese company asked club sponsor and Monacan High school counselor Jacqueline Slemaker how it could support the club.

That led to Dietz & Watson representatives coming to Monacan High with lots of meats and cheeses, charcuterie boards and other goodies. About 50 students enjoyed learning more about charcuterie, assembling boards and taking home bags full of Dietz & Watson products and gear (including knit caps).

Interesting info shared at the meeting included:

  • Charcuterie is a French word meaning “cooked flesh.”
  • Candy (like jelly beans and gummy worms) is a trendy addition to charcuterie boards.
  • Be sure to take advantage of Sumo citrus while the season lasts.
