Criminal Justice with Emergency Telecommunications

CCPS and the Chesterfield County Office of Emergency Communication work together to create the Emergency Medical Telecommunications Program. This program is designed to equip students with the skills and credentials needed for a career as a 911 dispatcher. It includes Criminal Justice for the first semester and Emergency Telecommunications the second semester. Located at the Eanes Pittman building in the Chesterfield County Government Complex, students will attend class there second semester working in simulations as well as listening to real emergency calls. The course is designed to model the telecommunicator’s role and responsibilities as a member of the health and public safety environment. Students will develop the entry-level skills needed in a telecommunications environment for rescue, fire, and police. This program is only offered to 12th grade students who will be 18 by the end of the school year. Qualified students will be hearing live 911 calls.
