A college-level, tuition-free, two-year, concurrent enrollment program

Precision Machining Technology

Precision Machining Technology (PMT), for students in grades 11 and 12, is a college-level, tuition-free, two-year, concurrent enrollment program offered by Chesterfield Career & Technical Center (CCTC) and Brightpoint Community College (BPCC) in Chester. Precision machinists set up and operate a variety of computer-controlled and manually-controlled machines used to turn, mill, drill, and grind metals and other materials into parts and tools. These parts, shaped and sized with precision, are used in the assembly of planes, trains, and automobiles, furniture, jewelry, cell phones, and just about any other imaginable manufactured product. The same machines are also used to make unique manufacturing machine tools an other specialized tools like medical and dental instruments. PMT prepares students for advanced manufacturing careers that are high-wage, high-tech and in high demand!

Note

Because this program is offered in partnership with Brightpoint Community College (BPCC), students must meet the College’s eligibility requirements to start and maintain placement in the program. Students attend BPCC according to the College’s semester academic calendars. Transportation is provided by the schools system to CCTC and BPCC; however, at times, students will need to provide their own transportation.
