Champions Together Unified Sports

Overview

The Champions Together high-school program fulfills the Unified Champion Schools requirements. Students compete on interscholastic track and field teams composed of approximately equal numbers of students with and without intellectual disabilities. Champions Together has three components: inclusive sports, inclusive leadership, whole school awareness. The Unified Champion Schools program is aimed at promoting social inclusion through Unified Sports. Unified Sports expands sports opportunities for students.

Highlights

The club will participate in one fall bocce tournament at a local high school. We plan to participate in the polar plunge for Special Olympics of Virginia this winter. 50% of all funds raised for the polar plunge will come back to Monacan Champions Together. In the Spring we will participate in four local track meets at CCPS schools or Goochland.

Time Commitment

The club will participate in bocce in the fall and track and field in the spring. During bocce and track season, the club will meet once a week after school for practice. The club will meet once a month for a social meeting after school.
