We are pleased to announce that students can take the Virginia DMV learner’s permit test at school. Students will be eligible to test if they are 15 years, 6 months or older.
STEPS TO COMPLETE THE PROCESS:
Register for the test
(Internet Explorer 9 or higher or Safari).
Provide a parent email to receive registration confirmation, test results, notification of changes to the date and time or cancellation of the test event.
Before taking the two part knowledge test, study the Driver’s Manual and take the practice tests.
Schools cannot provide read aloud accomodations. For read aloud accommodations students must schedule an appointment with DMV.
ON THE TEST DATE PLEASE BRING WITH YOU:
You will need to PRINT and have a parent/guardian SIGN the DTS 41 parent consent form. Your child will not be able to test without this form signed by a parent/guardian.
Picture ID (School ID)
Charged Chromebook and/or charger
Headphones are optional for audio testing
The student will be issued a test receipt after passing the learner’s permit test
The student will need to take the test receipt and required documentation to the DMV
AT THE DMV CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER:
Provide DMV approved documents to prove residency and identity.
Pass a vision test and have their picture taken.
Pay the fee for the learner’s permit and driver’s license.
