Latin Club

Overview

Students currently or formerly enrolled in Latin as well as any students who are interested in the Classical world of the Ancient Romans are welcome to join Latin Club. There are no dues, and the Latin Club pays the state and national dues for its members to join the Virginia Junior Classical League and the National Junior Classical League.

Highlights

Celebrations include, but are not limited to, birthdays of important Romans, traditional Roman holiday celebrations, and the Ides of March. Interested students currently enrolled in Latin may attend the State Latin Convention at the Richmond Convention Center each November and may register for the National Latin Exam in March. Latin Club builds a float for the Homecoming parade, decorates classically-themed Halloween pumpkins and presents them to patients at a local hospital, offers tutoring, and promotes Latin during Latin Week and World Languages Week.

Time Commitment

Generally, there is one meeting per month for planning an event or for a special lesson or celebration. The dates vary, but the meetings do not last more than an hour.
