School Information
On Aug. 22, 2019, storm clouds parted just in time for the sun to shine down on the ribbon cutting for the opening of Old Hundred Elementary School- the 39th elementary school in Chesterfield County. While community members, students, and staff excitedly gathered to walk through our halls for the very first time, our school family had already started to develop months before the momentous occasion.
Built as a “relief” school for the Midlothian area, Old Hundred drew students from nearby J.B Watkins, Evergreen, and Swift Creek Elementary Schools. From nights at the library to gatherings at neighboring churches, our school family met, planned, and imagined what Old Hundred could be. We committed ourselves to a culture of togetherness, support and inclusivity, and an expectation that the students who attend school here will have amazing learning experiences in a remarkable learning environment. Our community members chose our school name and our student chose our mascot (the Hawk) and our school colors (blue and green.) Our incredible staff worked together on crafting our value statement: below, grow, soar, together.
While our building is certainly beautiful, the real magic is what happens inside these walls. We opened our doors with an enrollment of over 800 and have steadily grown to nearly 1000 students with over 100 teachers and staff members. Old Hundred is truly an exceptional place to learn, grow, and soar.
