After researching natural resources, geology and archaeology, Manchester High students studying mythology created a pre-fire society then received the “gift of fire,” controlling fire and experimenting with its usefulness in cooking and working metal. The combined history and science lesson showed the importance of fire to civilization and why cultures around the world have theft-of-fire mythological heroes like Prometheus, Maui and Crow.
