What is the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children?
The Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children is a law that has been adopted by all 50 states and Department of Defense Educational Activity (DoDEA schools). The law applies to the receiving state. To exercise provisions, parents must be on active military orders. This does not extend to Department of Defense (DoD) civilians or DoD contractors.
What are School Liaison Officers (SLO)?
Each Branch of Service has a DOD employee who is either a School Liaison Officer or a POC who fulfills the role. School Liaison Officers serves as the primary point of contact for school-related matters; Represents, informs, and assists Command; Assists military families with school issues; Coordinates with local school systems; Forges partnerships between the military and schools.
