Administrative appointment Superintendent Merv Daugherty introduced Sammy Robillos as the new director of Compensation and Benefits.

Awards and recognitions For the first time ever, the Virginia High School League sanctioned a state championship wrestling meet for girls:

  • Jenna Anderson of Cosby High won the 112-pound state title. Mike Stefanko is the Cosby High coach.
  • Elise Davis of Thomas Dale High won the 185-pound state title. Alex Brulliea is the Thomas Dale High coach.

The Monacan High girls swim and dive team won the state championship. Within that first-place team finish were first-place finishes in these events:

  • 200-yard medley relay: Cassie Bauer, Piper Price, Carleigh Dillman and Raegan Canada
  • 200-yard freestyle relay: Piper Price, Carleigh Dillman, Campbell Diggs and Emerson Callis
  • 400-yard freestyle relay: Cassie Bauer, Raegan Canada, Campbell Diggs and Emerson Callis
  • 100-yard butterfly: Emerson Callis

Memo #047-23 was pulled from the consent agenda for individual action to revise sections 4 and 11a.

The board approved Memo #053-23, which recommended that the School Board authorize the procurement director to execute a contract with Stantec Architecture to provide architectural and engineering services for high school prototype planning, design and construction-related efforts. No funding is requested as part of this recommendation.

The board approved Memo #054-23, which recommended that the board authorize the procurement director to enter into a construction agreement with Gulf Seaboard General Contractors for west area middle school building and site construction in the amount of $80,554,500 and to approve any necessary change orders that do not exceed 10% of the value of the base contract.
