Awards and recognitions Congratulations to the career and technical education students who finished in the top three in the statewide competitions throughout the 2022-23 school year.

Sports Backers annually recognizes schools in the Richmond region that are implementing innovative programs to promote physical activity. Of the 76 schools that achieved 2023 Active RVA Certification, 28 schools (or 37% of all honorees) are in Chesterfield County Public Schools. Congratulations to these Active RVA-Certified Schools!

Congratulations to Bailey Bridge Middle, Chesterfield Virtual School, Salem Church Middle, and Spring Run Elementary for being honored as 2022-24 National PTA Schools of Excellence.

Recently, seven school nurses achieved National Board Certification for School Nurses, which means a total of 19 National Board Certified School Nurses now work in Chesterfield County Public Schools. Congratulations to our newest National Board Certified School Nurses!

Teachers from nine nations have joined Team Chesterfield through a partnership with Participate Learning. The 30 educators are working as full-time teachers in 10 different schools, teaching a variety of subjects, including elementary education, English as a Second Language and Spanish.

These bus drivers were recognized for outstanding performance:

  • Vernon Keen, Area 1, Bus 832, 10 years of service
  • Derrick Rowe, Area 2, Bus 578, five months of service
  • Tony Coons, Area 3, Bus 901, 20 years of service
  • Tammy Davis, Area 4, Bus 916, nine years of service
  • Katrina Jones, Area 5, Bus 874, five years of service

The board approved memo #131-23, which recommended that the School Board approve the above referenced revisions to current policies and regulations, effective immediately.
