Midlothian Middle School took second place in statewide We the People competition Feb. 1. The team of sixth through eighth grade students collaborated on opening statements and research in preparation for 12 simulated congressional hearings on topics including how the Constitution was used to establish our government, what happened at the Philadelphia Convention and the founders’ basic ideas about government.

Midlothian Middle’s outstanding performance earned the team the title of Best in Unit 4 and its impressive showing overall secured second place in the state’s middle school competition. Social studies teacher and department chair Sylvan Hunter coaches the team.
