Administrative appointments

The board approved these changes in assignment:

  • Dr. John Murray as superintendent (previously interim superintendent)

  • Dr. Lisa High as deputy superintendent (previously chief of schools)

  • Dr. Monique Booth as chief of schools (previously director of curriculum development and support)

  • Dr. Karen Dubiel as director of elementary school leadership (previously principal of Moseley Elementary)


Public hearings

The School Board held a public hearing on the superintendent’s proposed FY 2026 operating budget and held a public hearing on the superintendent’s proposed FY 2025 capital improvement plan.

Awards and recognitions

Recognizing student success

Kate Jaeger, sophomore of Midlothian High, was recognized for winning the VHSL Class 5 state cross-country championship.

Recognizing school success

Midlothian High students were recognized for creating an audiobook that is being used by Latin learners around the world.

Recognizing staff success

The board recognized CCPS school counselors of the year:

  • Outstanding First-Year Counselor of the Year: Sarah Devoe of Hopkins Elementary

  • Outstanding Elementary School Counselor of the Year: Ila Cartwright of Bensley Elementary

  • Outstanding Middle School Counselor of the Year: Dr. Ishaq Lee of Carver Middle

  • Outstanding High School Counselor of the Year: Catherine Gareiss of Meadowbrook High

Providence Middle Principal M.J. Rodney was recognized for being honored by the Virginia Association of School Librarians as Administrator of the Year.

Chad Maclin, director of career and technical education, was recognized as 2026 ACTE Administrator of the Year for Virginia.

These bus drivers were recognized for outstanding performance:

  • Jedidiah Selph, Area 1, Bus 773, three years of service

  • Monica Turman, Area 2, Bus 330, one year of service

  • Charles Barreiro, Area 3, Bus 613, 1.5 years of service

  • Todd Collins, Area 4, Bus 896, 18 years of service

  • Michele Cassada, Area 5, Bus 495, two years of service

These food service employees were recognized for outstanding service:

  • Aryanna Deal, food service associate at Bellwood Elementary, five months of service

  • Laura Moyse, food service associate at Salem Church Elementary, three years of service

  • Maria Munos, food service associate at Providence Elementary, six years of service

  • Vanessa Quyle, cafeteria manager at Chalkley Elementary, six years of service

  • Jasmine Pennington, assistant manager at Old Hundred Elementary, eight years of service

The board approved Memo #021-25 authorizing the procurement director to enter into a construction agreement with Roof Systems of Virginia for roof replacement at Falling Creek Elementary.
