In advance of our 2025 Hall of Fame gala, we are highlighting this year's remarkable honorees. Join us in honoring Kathy Kitchen and other inductees at the Hall of Fame Gala on May 1. Tickets are available now.
Kathy Kitchen had the state’s sharpest budget mind during her career as well as the rare ability to make complex topics understandable. She left the Virginia Department of Education to join Chesterfield County Public Schools as assistant superintendent of business and finance 1997-2010. She led finance, transportation, food services, planning and new construction and served in 2006 as interim superintendent. Kathy oversaw significant growth in CCPS: the operating budget almost doubled ($297 million in FY 1998 to $572 million in FY 2010) and eight new schools were built. She was instrumental in helping the district navigate the Great Recession of 2008. A graduate of Thomas Dale High and a mentor to many, Kathy worked diligently behind the scenes while keeping students and school employees at the heart of her work.
The 2025 inductees this year include: Katherine Baugher, Bessie Cooper, Kathy Kitchen, Catherine “Kitty” Neale, Brad Peebles and Linda Wood. Learn more about all our honorees on our Hall of Fame page.
